8th grade behavior

Are students at your school acting up? Well in heritage middle school in Berwyn, Illinois, the 8th graders are. BIG TIME.  Reports from the principal, Vice principal as well as , guest speakers, and foul/ detention slip counts, these students are ridiculous.
Heritage middle school has had many one on group teacher student conferences regarding poor comportment at lunch, in class ,and at guest speaking assemblies. The teachers are hoping to do a 180 and turn this school year around.

They are only in the 1st quarter, currently struggling to behave well. Foul after foul detention after detention  is being doled out soon enough teachers will start taking privileges away from the students, such as recess, free seating at lunch and, school trips.  Foul count on average for every month is 80, and the detention count on average every month is 20 for 8th grade students.

Michelle Hauer vise principal of heritage middle school has said "The behavior is disappointing" followed by "I know it can be better", she also wants students to participate more in school.

She was asked the following questions Q: How will you turn things around this school year?
She wants to stay positive and provide opportunities for well behaved students to encourage miss behaved  students to behave better. She was also asked "How can the students help", she wants students to "encourage each other" , and "walk away from bad situations", but she says "students are good at reporting". Meaning students are good at reporting the bad things that happen around the school.

So, do you think we can turn this 8th grade year around?

  1. This article made me feel like I should be acting better so I don't disappoint Ms. Hauer, but I'm not even a kid that starts trouble or talks back.
